New Buffalo, MI

Greek Museum

The Greek Museum, housed at the Annunciation and St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church in New Buffalo, Michigan, features the exhibit The Greeks of Berrien County, Michigan.

Through over 100 vintage photos, stunning artifacts, and colorful handcrafted textiles, the exhibit tells the compelling stories of those who left their homes, parents, brothers, and sisters behind in Greece to make a new life for themselves and their families in the new world. It explores the development of the community, the history of the church, as well as the contributions that the Greek immigrants and their children made to Berrien County.

The Berrien County Historical Association, in partnership with The Annunciation and St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church, developed the exhibit, which was funded in part by the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
A companion to the exhibit is the publication The Greeks of Berrien County. The stories of the immigrants are available here: The Greeks of Berrien County, Michigan — The Southwest Michigan Directory or in the slide presentation Greeks of Berrien County Power Point.

The exhibit can be seen from noon to 1:00 on Sundays and by appointment (call 630 569 2078 or email Thomop@msn.com).
