Father Paul Martin

Father Paul Martin serves as the Presiding Priest of Annunciation-St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church in New Buffalo, Michigan.

A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (B.A. English, 1973), he went on to earn an M.A. in Humanities, General Studies from the University of Chicago (1979) and pursued doctoral coursework in English there from 1985 to 1987. He later completed an M.A. in Applied Orthodox Theology at the St. John Damascene School of Theology, Balamand University (2001), and continued advanced doctoral studies in Orthodox Theology from 2020 to 2023. His academic formation was guided in part by Professor Gwin Kolb and Fr. Michel Najim.

Before entering full-time pastoral ministry, Father Paul served as a Captain in U.S. Army Counterintelligence from 1973 to 1979. His subsequent ministry has combined parish leadership with extensive chaplaincy and missionary service. He served as a short-term missionary priest in Kolkata, India (2006) and Bukoba, Tanzania (2007), as a Boy Scout chaplain on National Jamboree Staff (2001 and 2005), and as prison chaplain for the Orthodox Brotherhood of St. Moses the Black at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City (2001–2017).

Today he leads the community at Annunciation-St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church, where the parish gathers for worship, education, and outreach in the New Buffalo area.
